When I Love God More
When I love God more and when I let him love me more everything falls in better places.
When I love God more, I don’t put the same kind of pressure on my husband to make me happy.
When I love God more, I don’t try to control my daughter or worry about her future.
When I love God more, I am less rigid, perfectionistic, and uptight with my life.
When I love God more, I love my friends so much better without wanting them for what they can give me.
When I love God more, I’m a better therapist. I can serve and support while being comfortable and gracious with my own limits, without so much pressure to fix or perform.
When I love God more, I can make mistakes and not fall into shame holes. I can learn, grow, and dance in the grace he gives, knowing that his love is enough.
When I love God more, I can tolerate rejection and failure because I am wholly accepted by him.
When I love God more, I love myself more. I love the image of God inside me more. I even begin to love my inadequacies and limits and shortcomings because of the way they draw me back to him.
As Augustine writes, “Our hearts are restless until they find rest in Thee.”
When I embody the love God has for me, and from this place, try with everything I have to love him back, I am more whole.
I am free.
